About the Role

As a Medical Imaging Technologist, you will provide high‑quality diagnostic imaging across hospital and community settings. This includes imaging in the Emergency Department, inpatient wards, ICU, SCBU, theatres, fluoroscopy, outpatient clinics and community sites such as Napier Health Centre, CHB Medical Centre and Wairoa Hospital. You will be rostered across a 24 - hour rotating shift roster providing variety within a structured and well supported team environment.

You will operate imaging equipment safely and efficiently, produce high ‑ quality diagnostic images, ensure patient comfort throughout procedures, and maintain a clean, safe environment. You’ll work closely with Radiologists, clinicians and wider healthcare teams, ensuring accurate imaging is provided in a timely manner to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Radiology Department at Hawke’s Bay Hospital provides a wide range of diagnostic services supported by a skilled team of MITs, Radiologists, administration staff and healthcare partners. You’ll also contribute to services across satellite sites, working in a collaborative, patient‑focused environment.

About you

You’re a confident, skilled MIT who brings professionalism, technical expertise and a commitment to patient‑centred care. You will have:

  • Current registration and Annual Practising Certificate with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB).
  • Competency across general MIT modalities including plain film, mobile imaging, theatre imaging and fluoroscopy.
  • Strong commitment to patient safety, comfort and high‑quality imaging.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to equitable care.

Desired:

  • Experience in CT, Angiography or PACS.
  • Previous experience applying Te Tiriti principles in practice.
