About the Role

We’re seeking a dynamic and strategic People & Culture Business Partner to join our team and play a key role in driving transformational change across the district. This role works closely with senior leaders to deliver impactful P&C initiatives that align with business goals, enhance organisational capability, and foster culturally safe and sustainable practices. You’ll collaborate with P&C specialists, lead strategic projects, and contribute to shaping the future of our workforce.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leaders to align P&C strategies with business objectives and enable organisational success.
  • Lead and support transformational change initiatives across the district/service.
  • Drive employee engagement, wellness, and culturally safe practices that build resilience and sustainability.
  • Provide expertise in organisational design, talent management, and performance development.
  • Manage risk, compliance, and health & safety responsibilities within the P&C function.
  • Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.

About the Team/Service

You’ll be joining a team of seven experienced HR Business Partners, each managing their own unique portfolio. The team is known for its strong, trusted relationships across the organisation and works closely with both internal and external stakeholders. They foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where support, encouragement, and shared success are valued. About you

As a seasoned People & Culture professional, you’ll bring strategic insight, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.

You will also have:

  • 5-8 years’ experience working in a related function (Senior HR Practitioner) within a complex organisation, with practical knowledge of employment legislation, employment relations and or industrial relations experience and demonstrate a people and solutions focussed style.
  • Proven experience in managing relationships and developing and maintaining personal credibility with stakeholders. Able to create networks quickly. Experienced in union engagement.
  • Can monitor and analyse performance to ensure the quality of work, identify areas of improvement, problem solve, and make sound decisions to achieve goals.
  • Ability to think, plan and act strategically and operationally, to connect with and inspire action from people in a pressurised environment. Demonstrates inclusive leadership and management skills able to maximise the quality and contributions of individuals and teams to drive outcomes.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022. Proven ability to embed in practice and lived experience, the significance and obligations of Te Tiriti Waitangi, your commitment to equity and the 5 Principles of WAI2575.
