About the Role

Lead a specialist hand therapy service where clinical expertise and leadership combine to drive high quality patient outcomes. As Clinical Lead, you will provide advanced clinical input while guiding service direction, strengthening relationships across surgical, nursing, and community providers, and championing best practice in upper limb care across the Bay of Plenty.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Hand Therapy Team at Tauranga Hospital is a close knit and amazing group of fully registered Hand Therapists who provide specialist upper limb care across the region. The service accepts referrals from hospital and community providers including Allied Health, GP’s and Rheumatology services, delivering care at no cost to patients. The team places strong emphasis on professional development, mentoring, and ongoing training, creating a supportive environment for growth. Based primarily at Tauranga Hospital, there may be opportunities to work across satellite locations, offering variety within a connected service.

About You

You will be an experienced and respected Hand Therapist who brings strong clinical leadership and the ability to influence practice across services. You capable in building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and communicate with clarity and confidence. Your approach reflects a commitment to high standards of care, service improvement, and supporting the development of others within the team.

What you will bring:

  • Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand or Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand, and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Current membership as a registered Hand Therapist within Hand Therapy NZ
  • Proven clinical expertise in hand therapy and upper limb rehabilitation
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Ability to support service development and maintain high standards of care
  • Commitment to mentoring, supervision, and ongoing professional development
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and patient-centred practice
