Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Auckland City Hospital, part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand, Te Toka Tumai is responsible for providing secondary and tertiary care to patients from around the country and our neighbouring Pacific IslandsOur Adult Emergency Department (AED) is one of two major trauma centres serving the Auckland region. The hospital serves a population of approximately 500,000 and also provides specialised treatment for patients from other centres in New Zealand and the Pacific region with approximately 80,000 patients a year coming through our doors, there is never a dull day with the high index of disease severity.

About the Role

Our busy Adult Emergency Department (AED) at Auckland City Hospital needs Medical Officers, GPs, and/or Fellows to join us on fixed-term or permanent basis. 

We're looking for adaptable professionals who thrive in rapidly changing environments. You will work alongside our diverse healthcare team to deliver high-quality care in a setting where quick, accurate decision-making is essential. Your primary focus will be efficiently managing patients with minor illnesses and injuries in our high-volume, quick-turnover department.

About you

Qualifications:

  • Registrar or Fellow fully registered with the New Zealand Medical Council
  • Training in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care
  • Commitment to biculturalism and Māori health
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience on Registrar level
