About the Role
As a District Nurse in Dargaville, you will be part of our community clinical services providing care in the Kaipara, either at the patient’s place of residence, community clinics, or other suitable environments as mutually agreed with the patient.
The primary functions of this role include:
- Working in partnership with clients to promote health, prevent disease, maintain wellness and provide nursing care to referred clients in the community
- To encourage and educate families and individuals towards wellness and self reliance in health.
The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, and is patient/client centred, culturally sensitive and evidence –based.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our District Nursing team’s purpose is to encourage and educate families and individuals towards wellness and self-reliance in health. You will work in partnership with clients to promote health, prevent disease, maintain wellness and provide nursing care to referred clients in the community.

About you
As a District Nurse, you will be flexible, able to work independently and as part a multidisciplinary team. Good communication skills is a must, with the ability to build relationships across all age groups.
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum two years post basic experience or recent primary health experience
- Current Full NZ driver’s licence
- Proficient computer skills
- Good communication skills and have people orientated interests
- Demonstrated ability to practice in a culturally safe manner
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
