About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and team-oriented Paediatric Dietitian to join our community-based paediatric team. This dynamic role involves regular travel to rural hospitals, outpatient clinics, and home visits across the Waikato region.
You will provide dietetic care to tamariki and their whānau, ranging from preterm infants recently discharged from NICU to adolescents with a wide range of clinical needs. This includes supporting enteral feeding, managing faltering growth, providing oral nutrition support, and addressing complex allergies and other paediatric conditions.
Working both independently and collaboratively, you will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team. We’re looking for someone who communicates effectively, builds strong relationships, and brings compassion and professionalism to their practice.

About the Team/Service
Our wider dietetic team includes approximately 30 dietitians working across acute, community, outpatient and renal services. Our Waikato dietetic service covers a large geographical area; we provide care at Waikato Hospital, a large tertiary teaching hospital, as well in our smaller rural hospitals: Tokoroa, Taumarunui, Te Kuiti and Thames Hospitals and across the region in smaller clinics and home visits.

About you
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- Strong clinical skills, including the ability to work autonomously
- Dietitians Prescriber status (or working towards)
- New Zealand Dietitians Board registration and current annual practicing certificate (or eligibility to obtain)
- Paediatrics experience is preferred, more than 3 years clinical experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong team focus
- A full clean New Zealand driver’s license
- Cultural competence and a commitment to cultural safety and equity:
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare.
- Awareness of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches—or a willingness to learn
This position is Children’s Worker, as defined by the Children’s Act (2014), and as such appropriate screening will be conducted.
