About the Role

As a Community Support Worker Coordinator, you will provide leadership, direction and day-to-day coordination for the Tu Kaha Sub Acute unit in Kaikohe. You will support a team of Community Support Workers to deliver recovery-focused, person-centred care that empowers tangata whai ora to achieve their goals, build resilience and maintain wellbeing.

This is a varied and hands-on role where you will coordinate daily operations, facilitate recovery planning and multidisciplinary meetings, oversee rostering and resource management, and work closely with clinical teams, whānau and community agencies to ensure seamless support. Your leadership will help create a safe, supportive and culturally responsive environment that promotes recovery and reduces the need for inpatient admissions.

About the Team/Service/Location

Tu Kaha is a residential sub-acute service within Mental Health and Addictions Services, providing short-term recovery-focused support for people experiencing mental health challenges. The service works collaboratively with whānau, community providers and multidisciplinary teams to support recovery and independence.

About you

As a Community Support Worker Coordinator, you will bring strong leadership capability, a passion for recovery-focused mental health support, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with tangata whai ora, whānau and colleagues.

  • A relevant Mental Health, Health Support Work, Diversional Therapy or health-related qualification
  • Experience working within a mental health setting, with the ability to deliver person-centred and recovery-focused support
  • Proven leadership, mentoring or staff supervision experience, with the ability to coordinate workloads and daily operations
  • Strong communication, engagement and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work effectively with whānau, iwi, community agencies and multidisciplinary teams
  • A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, culturally safe practice, and improving health outcomes for Māori
  • A current full New Zealand driver’s licence
