About the Role
As the Community Coordinator, your focus will be on actions to improve programme outcomes and drive increased participation amongst priority populations; Māori and Pasifika people and people in high deprivation areas. You will steer initiatives to boost participation through equitable outreach approaches, community engagement, and by connecting with eligible individuals and key stakeholders.
You will bring an equity focused approach, be able to hit the ground running, and ensure all mahi aligns with Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Your work will support greater engagement and connection with Te Toka Tumai communities, helping to build trust and improve the Bowel Screening Programme’s impact.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Bowel Screening Programme is a free service for eligible participants aged 58 to 74. The programme is committed to saving lives by detecting bowel cancer early and ensuring equitable outcomes by improving participation among priority populations. Based at the Greenlane Clinical Centre, in the heart of Te Toka Tumai district, the programme is supported by a multi-faceted team dedicated to achieving equitable health outcomes.
About you
You will be hands-on with the community, so the ability to effectively communicate with both community groups and individual participants is essential. As the ideal candidate for this role, you will possess the following:
- Ability to be adaptable and responsive to community needs
- Completed or currently completing education in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Engagement, or a related field
- Strong community connections, particularly within Māori and Pasifika populations
- Committed to achieving equitable health outcomes through culturally appropriate approaches
