About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Director to provide clinical leadership to the BreastScreen Waitemata Northland service. This part‑time role offers a unique opportunity to influence service design, champion clinical excellence and contribute to improved outcomes for women across the Waitemata and Northland Districts.

You will lead the clinical development, implementation and performance of the BreastScreen Aotearoa programme within the region, ensuring a high‑performing service that delivers the best possible outcomes for the eligible population. Working in partnership with the Programme Manager, you will drive strategic and operational planning to ensure the programme meets BreastScreen Aotearoa National Policy and Quality Standards and continues to evolve through quality improvement and innovation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring strong clinical expertise, leadership capability and a commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

Essential Qualifications

  • A primary medical degree and current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
  • Vocational registration in Diagnostic Radiology with Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR), or equivalent.
  • Eligibility to work clinically in New Zealand and maintain relevant professional credentials.

Experience & Capabilities

  • At least five years’ post‑Fellowship experience as a Consultant Radiologist (Senior Medical Officer).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a clinical or multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proven experience in breast imaging.
  • Strong commitment to clinical governance and quality improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams, partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide clear, strategic clinical leadership.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity for Māori, Pacific and other underserved communities.
