About the Role
As a Clinical Coach within the Supported First Year of Practice (SFYP) programme, you will play a key role in supporting and developing graduate nurses as they transition into clinical practice. Working alongside nurses in real - time clinical settings, you will provide hands - on coaching, guidance, and role modelling to build confidence, clinical judgement, and professional capability.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to shape the future nursing workforce - partnering with educators, preceptors, and clinical teams to deliver structured learning, support competence development, and ensure graduates feel supported, safe, and set up for success in their first year of practice.

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Professional Development Unit is a supportive and collaborative team dedicated to growing and strengthening the nursing workforce. Based in Hawke’s Bay, the team works closely with clinical services, educators, and leaders across the organisation to deliver high - quality learning and development programmes.

About you
As a Clinical Coach, you will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate
Strong clinical experience with a passion for teaching, coaching, and supporting early
- career nurses
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence others
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and alongside educators and preceptors
- A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and supporting equitable outcomes for Māori
