About the Emergency Department:
Our Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital provides acute emergency services to around 130,000 adult and paediatric presentations per year and is one of the busiest in Australasia. Middlemore Hospital is situated in a lower socio-economic area and serves a culturally diverse, high need population with high acuity presentations. We embrace a workforce that is diverse and inclusive so that we are better positioned to understand and service our community.
About the role:
Are you a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse with a passion for education and leadership? We’re seeking a dedicated professional to play a key role as the Clinical Coach in supporting our nursing staff, promoting best practice, and ensuring high-quality patient care within our busy ED department. Key responsibilities will include identifying learning needs, providing individual coaching, mentor, and preceptor new nurses, and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to implement evidence-based practices. This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse (Proficient or Expert) to provide clinical guidance for our current and new graduate nurses across our ED departments – including the Adult Assessment, Monitored/Resus and Triage, also the Medical Assessment Units (MAU), Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU), and ED Short Stay areas.

Essential:
- New Zealand Registered Nurse
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Proficient / Expert level PDRP
- 3 years’ ED/acute experience
- Trained Preceptor
Desirable:
- Post-graduate qualification in progress
- Strong knowledge and expertise in ED - Acute Care / Medical / Surgical
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent coaching and teaching abilities
