About the Role

This position is part of the National VIP programme and aligns with the Family Violence Intervention Coordinator role

Responsibilities include contributing to the training of Health NZ staff, supporting staff to identify and report child protection concerns, work closely with whanau, staff and statutory agencies when there are immediate concerns for a child’s safety, coordination of MDT meetings for decision making around the placing of child protection alerts.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The VIP team work closely to provide training and support to staff across the organisation. They also work closely with statutory agencies such as Oranga Tamariki, the New Zealand Police, specialist family violence services and other community agencies to support safety planning for Tamariki and Whanau.

Key stakeholders participate in Governance Group meetings to support and provide guidance to the programme.

The National VIP Programme Team provide infrastructure, regional meeting and training opportunities. There are quality controls through regular audits, site visits and reporting.

About you

Applications are welcomed from experienced social workers, registered nurses or other health professionals with child protection experience.

Experience working in the health environment is desirable.

To be successful in this role you will be comfortable working closely with colleagues across the organisation, including in training environments, you will be an advocate for children and young people and have empathy for whanau that have or are experiencing family harm, you will have the confidence to coordinate MDT meetings, effectively manage systems, processes and reporting requirements and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
