About the Role

As an Associate Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM), you will support the Clinical Nurse Manager in the day ‑ to ‑ day operational leadership of the service. You will provide clinical oversight, coordinate patient flow, and ensure safe staffing and high ‑ quality care delivery across the unit.

This role includes working 12 ‑ hour shifts on a rostered and rotating basis, providing after ‑ hours senior nursing leadership and clinical support across the service.

You will play a key role in supporting and mentoring nursing staff, contributing to staff development and performance, and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture. The role also involves supporting quality and safety initiatives, monitoring standards of care, and contributing to service improvement activities.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient service delivery and positive patient outcomes, while maintaining a strong clinical presence and supporting the team through busy or complex situations.

About the Team/Service/ Location

You will be part of a multidisciplinary clinical team at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital, working closely with nursing staff, Clinical Nurse Managers, medical teams and allied health professionals in a supportive and fast ‑ paced environment focused on delivering patient‑centred care.

About you

You are an experienced Registered Nurse with emerging or established leadership capability and a strong commitment to quality care. You will have:

  • Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate
  • Strong clinical experience within a relevant specialty
  • Demonstrated leadership capability or experience supporting teams
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem ‑ solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate patient flow
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and clinical governance
  • A current PDRP portfolio at proficient level or above
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable health outcomes

Desired:

  • Postgraduate qualification (or working towards)
  • Experience in a senior nurse, shift coordinator or charge role
  • Experience with workforce coordination, rostering or service improvement
