  • Advanced Clinical Physiotherapy Role – Pelvic Health Outpatients
  • Part-time, permanent position (0.5 FTE, 20 hours/week – flexible)
  • Specialty Medicine and Health of Older People Service

The New Zealand Female Pelvic Mesh Service (NZFPMS) is a new national service delivered through two hubs – Northern (hosted by Waitematā) and Southern (hosted by Waitaha Canterbury) – providing comprehensive, trauma-informed care for women across Aotearoa affected by pelvic mesh complications.

About the Service
This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) dedicated to supporting women and their whānau. Recognising the complexity of this work, care is delivered flexibly through hospital, outpatient, and virtual settings, ensuring women receive pre- and post-operative support that is accessible, coordinated, and responsive to their needs.

This role is part-time, with potential for future growth.

About the Role
We are looking for an Advanced Clinician in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy to join our Northern Hub in Auckland to deliver expert care and support to women affected by pelvic mesh from all over New Zealand. This role will focus on complex pelvic health presentations including mesh complications, chronic pain, and functional recovery. You will work with patients in clinic and through virtual appointments, while also collaborating with practitioners close to the patient’s home to ensure care is accessible, well-coordinated, and tailored to each woman’s needs. You will also contribute to developing the systems and processes that will ensure the long-term success of this first-of-its-kind national service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert pelvic health physiotherapy to women with complex pelvic mesh complications.
  • Collaborate closely with urology, gynaecology, colorectal surgeons, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Allied Health colleagues.
  • Lead and contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit, and research.
  • Work autonomously as well as within a team of experienced physiotherapists.
  • Mentor, supervise, and support physiotherapists and students.
  • Model trauma-informed and culturally safe practice, upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

What We Offer

  • Provision of Professional Supervision: Regular, structured professional supervision to support reflective practice and clinical growth.
  • Professional Development: opportunities for professional development, access to in-house career development with regular in-service training to help you achieve your career goals.
  • Team Support: Collaboration with the wider Physiotherapy and Allied Health team, including the Clinical Leader (CL) and Professional & Clinical Leader (PCL), within a nationally connected service.
  • Opportunities to contribute to a nationally significant, innovative service improving outcomes for mesh-injured women.
  • Flexible work options, combining remote, outpatient, and hospital-based care.
  • Regular monthly supervision and work perks.
  • A salary range of $122,570 - $127,720 (pro-rated, depending on experience).

About You

  • New Zealand registered Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • At least 6 years’ post-registration experience, including 2+ years in complex female pelvic health (ideally with women affected by pelvic mesh complications).
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills, with the confidence to think on your feet and communicate clearly.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor within an interdisciplinary team, with experience in collaboration, service development, quality improvement, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, trauma-informed care, and empowering patients and their whānau in recovery.
  • Full, clean driver’s licence.
