About us:
Waiatarau is a Mental Health Inpatient Unit located on the grounds of Waitakere Hospital. The unit as a whole comprises of 8 intensive care beds and 24 open ward beds.
Mental Health Inpatient Units are essentially national resources, but all efforts are made to ensure clients from the West Auckland area that need our services are accommodated at Waiatarau.
About the role:
You will work in an interdisciplinary team, supporting and assisting multiple disciplines including Occupational Therapy, Social Workers, Psychologists and Registered Nurses. You will be implementing prescribed rehabilitation programmes within an inpatient unit setting , under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist Lead.. The programmes will be group focused, , and may include exercises or activities to improve functional performance, independence, communication etc.
About you:
We are seeking a dedicated, honest and reliable individual who has previous experience within the mental health environment and working as part of a team. They must
- have excellent communication skills
- have strong time management
- be proactive in their approach, and able to work independently
- have reliable transport to work place.
Waitematā is committed to using up-to-date technology with our patients to improve experience and outcomes, including the use of iPads, apps and Telehealth appointments so some proficiency using digital technologies is preferred.
