Youth Health Nurse, Enhanced School Based Health Services
Are you passionate about improving youth health?
We’re looking for a youth-friendly nurse to join our Enhanced School Based Health Services (ESBHS) team. ESBHS is a funded primary care service delivered in low-decile secondary schools across the Auckland district. Our youth health nurses provide high-quality, effective, and safe care to adolescents in a school-based setting.
About the role
This position has two key components:
- School-based clinic - you’ll lead a nurse-run clinic within a designated school, acting as an integrated member of the school community and managing the clinic’s day-to-day operations.
- Support across the ESBHS network - You’ll also visit other school clinics to provide additional clinical support alongside their nursing teams.
We’re currently recruiting for 0.4 FTE, with potential to increase up to 1.0 FTE. Job sharing will be considered.
About you
You’re youth-focused, approachable, and confident working independently. You bring strong clinical assessment skills, a can-do attitude, and excellent communication abilities—especially when working across multidisciplinary teams and within the education environment.
To be considered, you must:
- Be a NZ Registered Nurse with a current Practising Certificate
- Have at least five years’ experience in youth health or primary care
- Be passionate about youth health and committed to working at the top of your scope
Ideally, you’ll hold a postgraduate qualification (preferably in Youth Health Nursing), or be willing to pursue further study; as well as being an Authorised Vaccinator or motivated to become one.

This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills and enthusiasm to positively influence youth health outcomes across our district.
