If you are passionate about driving change and improving healthcare, the Te Manawa Taki (Midland Region) Trauma Service has an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trauma Quality Improvement Programme Coordinator to join our team.

In this senior pivotal role, you will play a key part in delivering and maintaining our Trauma Quality Improvement Programme (TQIP). You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the TQIP system, ensuring its efficiency and effectiveness. A major aspect of your role will involve data analysis, where you will review and analyse performance metrics and outcomes to identify areas for improvement. This will enable you to implement data-driven changes that positively influence patient care and operational processes. This position does not involve direct patient care.

You will also have the opportunity to provide staff training on quality improvement protocols, conduct audits to ensure compliance with standards, and collaborate closely with nursing and medical teams to review best practices and recommend improvements based on data insights.

While this role does not require a current Annual Practising Certificate, previous experience in an acute care setting such as ICU, HDU, surgical, trauma and trauma care is essential.

Key responsibilities:

As the Trauma Quality Improvement Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Trauma Quality Improvement Programme, ensuring it meets the needs of patients, their whanau, and trauma care providers in the Midland Region. Your tasks will include:

• Developing processes for quality assessment across various aspects of trauma care
•  Generate regular reports for TMT Trauma System services
• Monitor trends in trauma care provision
• Identify and report breaches of procedure, policy, guidelines, process, and system goals
• Develop and monitor action plans to address issues
• Complete or assist in targeted audits as determined by TMT Trauma System leadership and performance trends
• Regularly report the above to TMTTS leadership

The salary for this position will be based on experience and in line with the Policy, Advisory, Knowledge and Specialist Worker Collective Agreement – PAKS. Additional benefits include Kiwi Saver contributions (if eligible), professional development and wellness support.

• Bring clinical experience in ICU, surgical, or trauma care.
• Experienced in Quality Improvement in healthcare.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to write reports, design forms, retrieve data, speak effectively and support all levels of management, staff, and the community.
• Excellent organisational skills and detail-oriented.
• Mathematical ability necessary to validate and analyse data.
• Self-educate and develop a thorough knowledge of current trends in trauma quality improvement. 
• Understand the importance of cultural equity and want to make a meaningful difference in this space.
• Interested in shifting from direct patient care to a leadership role focused on system improvement.
