About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Physiotherapist who is passionate about rehabilitation and excellent patient care, to join our Interim Care Service (ICS) at Health New Zealand Waitematā – North Shore Hospital.
As a physiotherapist working in the ICS you will work primarily with patients who have presented with acute injuries or conditions that require short-term admission to an Aged Residential Care (ARC) facility for a period of recovery and rehabilitation, and for whom discharge to their own home is not possible in the short term.
You will work closely with the inter-disciplinary team to provide ongoing assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning. You will help coordinate and develop strong links between the acute and community teams and build relationships with the ARC facilities to ensure a high quality of service is provided to patients and whānau.

Health New Zealand Waitematā is leading the way in the Northland region in digital innovation with electronic patient notes, e-prescribing and e-vitals and have strong links with our community and outpatient services.
The ICS is led by a charge nurse manager and has a team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, a social worker and allied health assistants. They work closely, providing inter-disciplinary rehabilitation, supporting patients to get home as quickly as possible from their temporary stay in an ARC. You will be based at North Shore Hospital and will travel to the ARC facilities (which are located within our Waitematā catchment area on the North Shore and in West Auckland) to provide rehabilitation. Staff are provided with a mobile phone and laptop so mobile working is as efficient and effective as possible.

About you
- New Zealand registered Physiotherapist and valid current APC
- 2+ years of clinical experience: recent experience within an orthopaedic and /or rehabilitation hospital setting and/or experience working with older frail adults is preferable
- Ability to lead, support and mentor/supervise junior staff and /or students
- Strong clinical assessment skills, great communication and organisational skills
- Experience with student supervision
- Drivers licence (restricted or full)
