Specialty Nurse, Perioperative Nurse Coordinator

About the Role
- 0.7 FTE (56 hours per fortnight)
As a Perioperative Coordinator (General Surgery), you will play a key role in coordinating and case managing aspects of the perioperative journey for patients. Your day-to-day work will involve providing clinical oversight of referrals into General Surgery, as well as managing and coordinating both outpatient and inpatient waitlists to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
This is an opportunity to contribute to service development while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. You will engage closely with patients and their families, ensuring care is safe, well-coordinated, and patient-focused throughout the surgical pathway.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team of Perioperative Nurse Coordinators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Cancer Care Coordinators, and Administration staff work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, coordinated care for General Surgery patients.
This role is based at the North Shore
About you
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, initiative, a sound work ethic, and be well organised with the ability to prioritise based on clinical assessment.
You will also bring advanced clinical expertise and a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care. You will have:
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
- A minimum of 5 years’ recent general surgery experience
- Level 3 or above preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise based on clinical need
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to delivering safe, patient- and whānau-focused care
Experience reviewing referrals and supporting clinical decision-making
