About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated nurse to step into a specialist role leading HIV and syphilis contact tracing across the Bay of Plenty Sexual Health Service.
The Specialty Clinical Nurse – Sexual Health Contact Tracer is a senior nursing role responsible for coordinating and undertaking complex contact tracing activities, with a strong focus on preventing transmission, enabling timely testing and treatment, and supporting sustained engagement in care.
This position plays an important part in implementing the national HIV Action Plan and supporting the regional syphilis response. You will work closely with the wider Sexual Health team, HIV and Infectious Diseases team, Public Health, Primary Care, and community partners to ensure coordinated, culturally safe, and responsive care.
The role is primarily based at Greerton Clinics – Te Pa Harakeke in Tauranga, with collaboration across the wider Bay of Plenty region.

Our Sexual Health and HIV Services are small, highly skilled, and dedicated team committed to improving sexual health outcomes across the Bay of Plenty. We provide confidential, patient-focused outpatient care that is accessible, inclusive, and culturally safe.
This role strengthens our regional approach to contact tracing and supports improved equity of access and outcomes, particularly for Māori and other populations experiencing inequities

About you
You will be a senior nurse with strong clinical judgement, leadership capability, and a passion for improving sexual health outcomes.
What you will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current practising certificate
- Postgraduate qualification in sexual health or a related field (preferred)
- Experience in sexual health, contact tracing, or communicable disease management
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive and complex conversations
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and culturally safe practice
- Experience with data collection, audit, and quality improvement processes
