About the Role

The Waikato Specialist Eating Disorders Service (SEDS) is entering an exciting new phase of growth. We are evolving from a predominantly adult service to an across‑the‑lifespan model, providing compassionate, evidence‑based care for people aged 12–65 experiencing acute and severe eating disorders.

We are seeking a motivated and thoughtful clinician to join our specialist team at this pivotal time. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a growing service and help shape how eating disorder care is delivered across the Waikato region.

We welcome applications from NZ‑registered health practitioners, including Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Registered Nurses and Psychologists.

We also welcome applications from full members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC) who have been accredited to work within the mental health and addictions scope of practice.

You must have a strong foundation in mental health practice and, ideally, some experience working with people with eating disorders. However, if you bring genuine curiosity, reflective practice, and a commitment to learning, we encourage you to apply. Comprehensive training, supervision, and team support are integral to this role.

In this role, you will have opportunities to:

  • Develop and deliver education and training within Waikato and across regional services.
  • Provide consultation and supervision to other health professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of a new adolescent care pathway.
  • Build capability and shared expertise within an established specialist team.
  • Work alongside a skilled, collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision in evidence‑based treatments for adolescents and adults with eating disorders.
