About the Role

  • Provide comprehensive anaesthesia, acute pain, and perioperative services for elective and emergency patients at Waikato and Thames Hospitals
  • Participate in an on-call roster
  • Actively contribute to teaching, research, and service improvement
  • Model a high degree of professionalism, collaboration, and leadership
  • Work within a team-based model of care alongside skilled colleagues in anaesthesia, surgery, and perioperative medicine

Our Anaesthesia Department has a strong track record in teaching, continuing medical education and research, with close ties to the University of Auckland and University of Waikato and strives to be a centre of anaesthetic excellence in New Zealand.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) or equivalent (or be close to completion)
  • Eligibility for Vocational Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Recent clinical experience comparable to contemporary Australasian practice
  • Competence in providing anaesthesia for healthy children aged > 24 months
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team-focused approach, with demonstrated leadership and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
