About this Role

We’re looking for a skilled and compassionate General Radiologist to join our dedicated Radiology team at Waikato Hospital. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a service that makes a real difference in the lives of our patients and communities.

In this role, you’ll be interpreting and reporting a wide range of complex clinical cases—CT, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and MRI—across both general and acute settings. Subspecialty interests are supported and you will have the opportunity for further development.

You will participate in multidisciplinary meetings and play a key role in registrar education to help shape the ongoing development of excellence within our department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting radiologic studies with precision and care
  • Supervising and mentoring registrars
  • Active participation in multidisciplinary team meetings

Waikato Hospital is a tertiary training hospital and Level 1 Trauma Centre, serving one of the busiest regions in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our Radiology Department performs over 200,000 examinations annually, with a strong focus on Emergency, Trauma, and Oncology imaging.

About You

You’re someone who brings both expertise and empathy to your work. You’re passionate about delivering high-quality care, and you thrive in a team environment where knowledge is shared, and growth is encouraged.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven experience in a wide scope and across all modalities of diagnostic radiology
  • Eligibility for registration in the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Scope of Practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • A subspecialty fellowship or strong interest in developing a subspecialty area
