About the Role
As a Registered Social Worker in the Older Persons Mental Health team, you will deliver safe, evidence - based mental health assessment, intervention and recovery-focused support for older adults experiencing mental health challenges.
You will:
- Manage a caseload of increasing complexity
- Provide psychosocial assessment, treatment planning and care coordination
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Support whānau through education, planning and advocacy
- Contribute to service improvement, supervision of students, and interprofessional teaching
- This is a role where you can utilise your advanced communication, clinical reasoning and relationship - centred practice to support improved outcomes for tangata whaiora and their whānau.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Older Persons Mental Health team provides specialist assessment and treatment for kaumatua with mental health needs across Hawke’s Bay.
We are a supportive and collaborative team of Social Workers, Nurses, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and allied health professionals who work together to deliver high quality, culturally responsive services.

About you
As a Social Worker, you will bring:
- Bachelor of Social Work (or higher) recognised by NZSWRB
- New Zealand Social Worker Registration + current APC
- 5+ years’ experience in mental health preferred
- Experience working in community or older persons mental health
- Strong clinical assessment, communication and engagement skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary setting
- A clean full NZ driver licence
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, Māori health needs and culturally safe practice
Desirable:
- Membership with ANZASW
- DAO authorisation (or willingness to train)
- Counselling skills
- Experience supervising students
