About the Role
The role Service Manager Woman, Child & Family (WCF) and Specialist Outpatient services is based in Rotorua and reports to the Group Director Operations – Lakes. The role provides management and leadership expertise to both the WCF team and the Specialist Outpatient Service programme for all Lakes Services.
This is an excellent opportunity within two highly functional hospitals as well as representing Lakes within the local communities. The role is based in Rotorua and offers the benefits of a modern city with great tourism and a reputation for adventure activities.
The successful appointee will work in partnership within Rotorua & Taupo Hospital as well as the community. It is a substantial role in regards to management, leadership, promoting and growing the Woman, Child and Family service of the hospital. The applicant will be focused on robust operational performance, quality and continuous improvement. The successful applicant will be able to balance this with change management, managing forward planning and developing robust plans and strategies where appropriate. The role is challenging and rewarding and well supported by a team of committed, passionate and professional staff. Commitment and competency to improve Maori health outcomes is critical.

- Strong operational management skills with a focus on high quality, efficient, effective service delivery.
- Highly skilled in implementing systems and processes that enable staff to provide high quality services.
- Seeks a position with high visibility and hands on management within the organisation, attention to detail, and strong hands on operational management focused on high service delivery.
- Leads by example.
- Has advanced knowledge of outpatient service delivery that will lead specialist outpatient service delivery across all district specialties
- A previous background in the management of WCF services is highly desirable.
- Motivates and inspires people to do their best, promotes a positive attitude towards change and encourages teamwork and cooperation
- Leads the WCF and Outpatient teams by encouraging others to contribute their opinions and builds on them, engages in collaborative practice with management colleagues and clinicians, maintains mutual respect and trust in relationships with peers and service consumers
- Facilitates an effective team through encouragement, coaching and mentoring, providing direction, accommodating diversity in approach and fostering both professional and personal development
- Embraces innovation and uses initiative in dealing with work problems and opportunities
- Encourages staff to look for more effective opportunities in systems, processes and service delivery
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in planning, organising and managing activities.
- Shows initiative in service improvement
- Proven leadership/senior management experience within a public health sector organisation.
- Strong general management skills.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate others to commit to working towards the organisation’s goals.
- Experience and knowledge of change management and project management
- Has the ability and skills to deliver the health target ESPI 2 through acting as the Champion for this health target.
