Expression of Interest for Senior Pharmacist – Critical Care

We are excited to announce an internal opportunity for the position of Senior Pharmacist – Critical Care. This position is open exclusively to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora staff only. About the Role

This pivotal role provides senior clinical leadership within the critical care service, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred pharmacy care in a complex and fast-paced environment. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will lead the optimisation of medicines management for critically unwell patients, contributing to improved patient outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for current employees to take on new challenges, broaden their skill sets, and grow their careers within Health New Zealand. As a senior member of the clinical pharmacy team, you will provide leadership and mentorship to pharmacists, support ongoing service development, and drive quality improvement initiatives, helping to advance pharmacy practice and the safe and effective use of medicines within the service.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Applicants must hold a current APC with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand
  • At least 3-5 years of post-registration pharmacy experience.
  • Previous experience in critical care and a minimum of 3 years in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience in mentoring, or supervising pharmacists.
  • Current New Zealand driver’s licence.
