Rotational Physiotherapist - Intermediate Care

About the Role

We are looking for an NZ registered Physiotherapist who has at least 2 years post graduate clinical experience to join a permanent Core 2 Rotational Programme in New Zealand’s largest DHB.

This is a full time permanent role. The Core 2 rotations are nine months long with opportunities in the following specialities based at Auckland City Hospital, Starship hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre :

• Acute Medical and Haematology
• Older People’s Health Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation
• Acute stroke, neurology and all ages stroke rehabilitation
• Cardiothoracics
• Orthopaedics
• General Surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Women’s Health physiotherapy
• Critical Care – CVICU and DCCM
• Paediatrics
• Community Physiotherapy- Community Rehabilitation and Intermediate Care Team.

As well as developing more specialised clinical skills, staff on the Core 2 Rotational programme are encouraged and supported to begin to develop mentoring and supervision skills; supporting the development of less experienced staff in case load management and prioritisation.

You will join an excellent team of Physiotherapists to gain skills and competencies in physiotherapy assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning. You will work alongside your wider Allied Health colleagues using an interdisciplinary model within a multidisciplinary team on the wards to deliver high quality, effective services for our population. Regardless of your experience, you can expect to receive a thorough orientation and regular meetings with your practice supervisor.

Our team is made up of passionate and supportive Physiotherapists based across Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Childrens Hospital.

About you

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

• NZ registration and a current Annual Practicing Certificate as a Physiotherapist
• Minimum 2 years of post graduate experience including within an equivalent acute hospital setting
• Excellent clinical decision making skills and use of evidence based practice
• A flexible, pro-active and can-do approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary bicultural environment

• Excellent time management and organisational and communication skills
• Experience in supervising physiotherapy students

• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how to provide culturally safe care in the acute hospital environment
