About the Role
Level 4 PACU Auckland City Hospital provides postoperative care for patients who have experienced severe illness or trauma and require surgery and/or complex procedures. We have 7 operating theatres on the Auckland City Hospital and provide 24/7 surgical care that is both elective/planned and acute. We work with multiple services including Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, ORL surgery, Maxillofacial surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory and Vascular Surgery. Our PACU is currently staffed Monday-Friday 0700-2030 hours, with the intention of potential on call work in the future. Our staff work 8hour or 10hour shifts in the unit.
Joining our team will enable you develop your clinical skills, knowledge, and expertise as we are a tertiary referral centre for Cardiothoracic surgery as well as major Head and Neck surgery for the Northern region. We are keen to help you achieve your professional goals and will assist you with postgraduate study and career progression on PDRP.

About you
You should have a minimum of 12 months acute or critical patient care experience post NZ registration. PACU experienced is preferred and you should be able to use electronic health records. Vital skills we seek are excellent communication skills, documentation, critical thinking, and decision making for patient care plans. We expect all of our staff to be engaged team members who are willing to collaborate and work across our other PACU units as required.
