About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a busy clinical environment.
You’ll provide direct patient care, health education, and clinical support while promoting sexual wellbeing and reducing the transmission of sexual transmitted infections in our community.
Comprehensive orientation and ongoing training will be provided to support the right person to succeed in this specialised field.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive sexual health assessments, testing, treatment and counselling.
- Administer vaccinations and medications in line with guidelines.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Work collaboratively with our doctors, nurses and administrative staff.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

About the Team/Service
The Sexual Health Service is based at 3 Ohaupo Road in Hamilton and provides free confidential sexual healthcare. We specialise in the prevention, diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections, including tracing and treatment of contacts.
Our work includes HIV prevention (PrEP and PEP), vaccination to prevent Hepatitis B, HPV, and MPOX and prescribing of DoxyPEP for Syphilis and Chlamydia prevention.
The service also provides care for a range of related conditions e.g. genital skin conditions, chronic genital pain and gender-affirming care including hormone therapy.
About you
- Current annual practicing certificate as a Registered Nurse.
- Previous clinical experience in sexual health is an advantage.
- Authorised vaccinator and smear taker certification are desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a non-judgmental and inclusive approach.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with professionalism and empathy.
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
