- This service provides nursing assessment, treatment management advice and support for patients pre and post the formation of stoma, across the Hawkes’ Bay region.

About the Role
This role is to provide nursing assessment, treatment, management, advice and support for patients pre and post the formation of a stoma. Care occurs in a variety of settings including; the in-patient, outpatient, home or clinic settings, to support patients pre and post the formation of a stoma, including urostomy, ileostomy and colostomy. The work is varied, rewarding and interesting. If you have not previously worked in this area of nursing enjoy the focus of supporting discharge, this a wonderful opportunity to expand your knowledge in this specialised area of nursing, while empowering patients to better understand and manage their health requirements.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The wider Community Nursing Service teams consist of the District Nursing teams in Napier and Hastings, the Continence, Better Breathing Hawkes Bay (providing respiratory and heart failure rehabilitation, and Community Oxygen Therapy), the Wound and Community Clinical Nurse Specialist teams, as well as the Ostomy Service team. The wider team consists of Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, District Nurses, a Kaiawhina and Health Care Assistants along with the administration team. The services are based at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Napier Health Centre. Although this role is based on the hospital site in Hastings, the Ostomy Service work across the region running clinics in Hastings Napier, Wairoa and Central Hawkes Bay. Referrals are received from the primary, secondary and tertiary health sectors.

About you
You will need the following key attributes and skills:
- Previous Surgical Nursing experience
- 3 years post graduate experience
- Full unendorsed drivers’ licence
- Computer and word processing skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Good time management skills
- Previous experience working within a team
- Ability to work autonomously in a variety of settings
