About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in our General & Vascular Surgery Ward, you’ll play an essential role in delivering safe, skilled and compassionate care to patients undergoing acute and elective surgical procedures. Your days will be varied - from undertaking comprehensive assessments and planning evidence‑based care, to supporting patients and their whānau through their surgical journey and recovery.
You’ll work in a fast‑paced environment where clinical judgement, teamwork, and communication are key. About the Team/Service/ Location
Based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, the General & Vascular Surgery Ward is part of a dedicated multidisciplinary service providing comprehensive care across a wide range of surgical presentations. You’ll work alongside surgeons, nurses, allied health staff, and broader clinical teams who collaborate closely to deliver excellent patient‑centred care.

About you
You’ll be a motivated and patient‑centred Registered Nurse who thrives in a busy surgical environment. You will bring:
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid APC.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Excellent time‑management and the ability to prioritise in a dynamic setting.
- A commitment to culturally safe practice and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A positive, proactive attitude and dedication to delivering high‑quality care.
Preferred:
- PCA/Epidural certification.
- Previous surgical nursing experience.
- A PDRP portfolio (or willingness to work toward one).
