About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in our Ophthalmology Department, you will play a key role in delivering specialist eye care services to our community. You will be working across both outpatient clinics and the minor procedure setting, supporting ophthalmologists and other clinical staff to provide high-quality assessment, treatment, and care for patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions.

This role offers a great mix of autonomy and collaboration, with opportunities to grow your knowledge in a unique and rewarding specialty. You'll contribute to the smooth running of clinical services, ensuring patients receive timely and efficient care.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our Ophthalmology team is a close-knit, experienced group of nurses and clinicians who are passionate about improving eye health outcomes across Hawke’s Bay. Based at the Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, our service is known for its innovation, supportive culture, and commitment to delivering excellent care.

About you

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring:

  • A current New Zealand Registered Nurse Annual Practising Certificate
  • A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience (ophthalmology or outpatient clinic experience advantageous but not essential)
  • A keen interest in specialist eye health and the motivation to upskill in this area
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to providing equitable, culturally safe care aligned with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
