Registered Nurse – Module 8 & 9, General Surgery Outpatient Clinics, Manukau Health Park

There may be occasional requirements to remain later to support clinic demands and ensure continuity of patient care. Flexibility to work within the hours of 8:00am to 5:30pm is essential.

Manukau Health Park is one of New Zealand’s leading outpatient facilities, delivering high-quality specialist services within a modern, patient-focused environment. As part of Counties Manukau Health, you will work with one of the most culturally diverse populations in Aotearoa.

We are seeking a motivated and well-organised Registered Nurse (RN) to join the General Surgery Outpatients team. The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience within general surgical specialties and the ability to work confidently in a dynamic, fast-paced clinical environment. A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem solving is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Flexibility and adaptability are key, as clinic demands and patient needs can change throughout the day. Proficiency in wound care is required, including the safe and efficient management of complex dressings. You will also work autonomously within our Preadmission Clinic, undertaking comprehensive patient assessments and providing education to ensure patients are clinically optimised and well prepared for their upcoming surgery. This includes coordinating preoperative requirements, identifying and escalating clinical risks appropriately, and supporting patients and their whānau to understand their surgical journey and plan of care.

In this outpatient RN role, you will support and coordinate clinics to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. You will work alongside general surgeons, trainee doctors, nurse specialists, experienced registered nurses, and patient care assistants to achieve optimal outcomes for patients and their whānau.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Minimum of five years’ experience within a general surgical environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in wound management
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and adapt within a changing clinical setting
