About the Role

We are looking for a compassionate and capable Registered Nurse to join our dedicated Mental Health for Older people team at Tauranga Hospital. The 10-bed inpatient unit provides short-term assessment, care and treatment for tangata whai ora with complex mental health presentation such as dementia, psychological conditions, and palliative needs.

In this rewarding role, you will support tangata whai ora and their whanau through deeply personal journeys - applying a mix of physical, mental health and communication skills. You will have access to learning and development opportunities including in-class education, e-learning, and postgraduate study specific to Older Persons Mental Health.

This is a permanent, part-time role working 32 hours a week. Shifts are rostered across a 24-hour schedule.

Our inpatient unit is part of the Mental Health and Addiction Services based at Tauranga Hospital - one of the fastest-growing regions in New Zealand. Nestled between golden beaches and bush-clad hills, Tauranga offers an incredibly lifestyle. The Mental Health for Older People team prides itself on collaboration, empathy and providing the highest standard of care to tangata whai ora and their families.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse who brings empathy, critical thinking and a calm presence to your work. You communicate effectively with colleagues and whanau, and you are committed to delivering person-centred care to older people with diverse and complex needs.

What you will bring:

  • Current NZCN registration and Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Mental Health experience and scope of practice (no restrictions)
  • 2 + years post-registration experience, ideally in Older Adult Mental Health or related areas
  • Ability to work rostered shifts (24/7 coverage)
  • A flexible, compassionate and team based approach
