About the Role

Join the Whangarei Hospital’s busy Medical Outpatients Department on part time position. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of medical specialties.

As a Registered Nurse in the outpatient setting, you will coordinate and deliver nursing care, support specialist clinics, undertake patient assessments, provide education, and contribute to positive patient outcomes while ensuring an exceptional patient experience.

  • Provide safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care within outpatient clinics.
  • Conduct patient assessments, documentation, and care planning.
  • Support medical specialists during outpatient consultations and procedures.
  • Deliver patient and whānau education to promote self-management and wellbeing.
  • Coordinate care and referrals with internal and external healthcare providers.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Medical Outpatients Department at Whangarei Hospital runs clinics from a large range of specialities. We have a large team of local specialists (doctors, nurses and physiologists) but also host a range of visiting specialists.

The Medical Outpatients Department also runs a medical day Stay unit (MDSU) for:

  • Transfusions
  • Infusions
  • Procedures
  • Venesection

We provide a supportive and collaborative team environment, opportunities for professional development and continuing education and access to clinical supervision and mentorship.

About you

  • Registered Nurse with a current APC
  • Current PDRP
  • Current full NZ Driving License and ability to travel across the region
  • Recent (within 2 years) clinical experience in a relevant clinical setting
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to practice in a culturally safe manner
