About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Medical Day Unit team at Gisborne Hospital.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in an outpatient and community setting receiving a range of medical treatments and procedures in a day-stay environment. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
This is a great opportunity for a nurse who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to Medical Day Unit patients
- Perform patient assessments, monitoring, and clinical interventions
- Support care coordination and patient flow through the unit
- Deliver patient and whānau education
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team
- Contribute to quality improvement activities and safe practice

About you
You will be a flexible and team-focused Registered Nurse who thrives in a dynamic clinical environment.
Essential:
- Registered Nurse with current NZ APC
- Recent acute or medical nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Commitment to culturally safe practice and improving Māori health outcomes
Desirable:
- Experience in a Medical Day Unit, oncology, or infusion services
- Postgraduate study (or working toward)
