Health NZ Counties Manukau is a dynamic and progressive organisation at the forefront of innovative health care delivery within the New Zealand Public Health Sector. We continue to work with others to achieve equity in key health indicators for Maaori, Pacific and communities with health disparities and will continue to develop and implement plans, based on local needs to improve the health and wellbeing of Counties Manukau region. Our main sites are Middlemore Hospital, Kids First Hospital and Manukau Health Park.
We are part of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, the overarching organisation for New Zealand’s national health service. HNZ leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels.
About the role:
The Discharge Lounge is a very important step in facilitating early, planned discharge with a focus on the family and patient-centred care. The patient journey has been the primary focus of this initiative. As a Registered Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with patients and their families to facilitate a well-planned discharge. You are expected to have a good verbal and written communication as you well be communicating with the wider multi-disciplinary team, patients and their families to enable efficient and effective and safe discharge.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with acute hospital experience and a thorough understanding of the patient journey and discharge processes. We are looking for a nurse who is enthusiastic, proactive, understanding and is able to work in a fast pace environment. You are expected to provide compassionate, high quality care at all times while being able to self-direct and manage a busy workload.
This position is a Core Children's worker under the Children's Act & requires full safety checks completed before any new employee starts
About you:
To be considered we will need the following:
- New Zealand Registered Nurse with minimum of 3 years of experience in New Zealand.
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Experience in an Acute medical or surgical hospital setting.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Strong clinical skills and confidence
- Someone who thrives in high energy environments and can prioritise effectively
