About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) team at Waikato Hospital. You will be trained to work across both our pre‑procedure and post‑procedure areas—preparing patients for their surgery and caring for them as they recover afterwards. You will play a key part in ensuring patients feel informed, supported, and safe during what can be an anxious time.
This is a dynamic, fast‑paced environment where your nursing expertise and calm presence make a meaningful difference.
Key responsibilities:
- Complete pre‑operative assessments
- Coordinate patient flow
- Provide education and reassurance to patients
- Monitor patients post-procedure to ensure they are ready for discharge

Skills and experience required:
- Minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in a New Zealand hospital environment
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with excellent time management skills
- Superb communication skills, with a patient‑centred approach
- Flexibility in working hours, with varied start times to meet service needs
- Strong commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and the delivery of high‑quality, compassionate patient care
