We are Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Te Toka Tumai Auckland.  Starship Children’s Hospital provides world-class inpatient, outpatient, trauma, emergency, and urgent care to Tamariki and their whānau. Every day our clinical and support teams work collaboratively to fulfil our mission to deliver world class patient and whānau-centered paediatric healthcare to approximately 1 million neonates, children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific.

 Our Paediatric Operating Theatres at Starship Child Health provides Acute/Trauma and Elective surgical procedures in the paediatric specialties of General, Thoracic, complex congenital, Urology, Endoscopy, Oncology, ORL, Vascular, Dental, Orthopaedics, Spines , cardiac and Plastics.

Our PACU staff are also responsible for the post-operative/post GA recovery of Neonates and Tamariki having GA procedures outside the OR suite including radiotherapy and radiology

We are looking for experienced paediatric PACU nurse or an Anaesthetic technician trained and skilled in Recovery. We have a Permanent full time vacancy available in our Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (Recovery)/Pre Op in our paediatric operating theatres at Starship Children's Hospital.

As the ideal person for this role, you will:

• Have registration with NZ Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or equivalent registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
• Experience as a recovery (PACU) Nurse
• Strong clinical judgement and ability to remain calm in high pressured situations
• Have well developed communication, critical thinking skills and a commitment to mokopuna and whanau centred care
• Commitment to improving Māori health outcomes and embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Have a strong commitment to quality healthcare
• Ability to develop collaborative working partnerships across a multidisciplinary team
