Where you'll be working

Based at Waikato hospital Hamilton, this regional leadership position works across the Te Manawa Taki region and travel throughout the region is part of the role. You will be part of a collaborative network of cancer psychosocial professionals, working alongside clinical leaders, managers and multidisciplinary teams to shape the future of psychosocial oncology services across the region.

 

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and passionate clinical leader to become our Regional Lead Cancer Psychosocial Support Service – Te Manawa Taki.

This is a unique opportunity to influence cancer psychosocial care across the region while maintaining a clinical component within the Waikato Cancer Psychological and Social Support Service (CPSSS). You will provide professional and clinical leadership to the cancer psychosocial workforce, supporting workforce development, service improvement, clinical excellence and equitable outcomes for people affected by cancer.

Working in partnership with allied health leaders, managers, clinicians and regional stakeholders, you will:

  • Lead the development of a high-performing, outcomes-focused psychosocial oncology service.
  • Strengthen partnerships across districts, services and professional groups.
  • This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the experience and wellbeing of patients and whānau navigating cancer care while influencing service development at both regional and national levels.

Mōu | About you

You are an experienced clinician and leader who is committed to delivering equitable, person-centred care and supporting excellence in psychosocial oncology services.

You bring the ability to develop strong partnerships, influence across organisational boundaries, and inspire others through clinical leadership. You have a proven track record of improving services, supporting workforce development, and creating environments where innovation and quality improvement thrive.

 

Required skills and experience you will need to be considered for this role:

  • Registered Psychologist or Registered Social Worker with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Minimum five years' clinical experience.
  • Experience contributing to clinical governance and service development.
  • Current full New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to travel across the region.

 

Ideally you will also have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a clinical, leadership or related field.
  • Membership of a relevant professional association.
  • Experience leading teams and supporting workforce development.
