About the Role
As a Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) Pharmacist, you will play a critical leadership role in enhancing medication safety governance across Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Hawke’s Bay. You will coordinate medication safety initiatives and projects, contribute to the development and implementation of strategy, and lead audits and evaluations to improve safe and effective medicine use. You will also support communication and education by developing medication-related bulletins and leading reviews of medicine events and trends.

Our collaborative and innovative Hospital Pharmacy team is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. You’ll be joining a supportive service that values professional growth, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
We have regular journal clubs, grand rounds, clinical talks and an Education and Training Pharmacist to support your growth and development. We also look to support other external training opportunities. In Hawke's Bay the local branch of the PSNZ is active in organising continuing education sessions.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A recognised Pharmacy qualification and be registered with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- A postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent).
- Significant hospital pharmacy experience and a passion for medication safety and governance.
- Experience in leading or participating in audits and quality improvement projects.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach.
