About the Role

You will be an integral part of the forensic pathology team, including the senior leadership team dealing with over 1000 coronial autopsies each year, covering the full spectrum of coronial-authorised post-mortems. We play a crucial role in mass fatality events, operate a 7 day a week on-call service and are accredited by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) for training and the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). The department has a dedicated CT scanner as well as separate infectious and homicide theatres and provide a busy regional perinatal post-mortem service as part of the National Perinatal Pathology Service (NPPS).

The position has the overall responsibility and single point accountability for maintaining quality systems and documentation within the department and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including ISO 15189 and associated criteria. You’ll also assist with developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives, liaising with internal services and external agencies to provide a quality service that meets the needs of the department and stakeholders. You will monitor the KPIs within the department and investigate non-compliance and implement quality improvements to prevent incident recurrences. In addition, you will also be the IT Super User for Forensic Pathology and will be responsible for managing the department’s IT requirements. This will include assisting with the IT service provision for the Northern Forensic Pathology Service (NFPS) in Palmerston North. There will be a significant focus on IT projects, daily IT operations and IT troubleshooting. You will be the first point of contact for all computer related issues and liaise between the department, Lab Information Systems, IT Helpdesk and department, and external vendors.

This is a full-time seconded role until end of March 2027 and is the ideal opportunity for someone wishing to advance their career.

For further details, please refer to the position description.
