About the Role

  • Join the Psychiatry department as a training or non-training registrar.

Our Mental Health & Addiction Services encompass a range of specialized units and programs, including:

  • Ace Response Team (ART)
  • Whare Whakaue Inpatient Unit
  • Te Ngako Community Mental Health & Addictions
  • South Lakes Community Mental Health & Addictions
  • Mental Health Services for Older Persons (MHSOP)
  • Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (iCAMHS)
  • Consultation-Liaison Service
  • Mental Health Triage

About the Location

  • Join our dynamic team at Lakes Psychiatry Department, serving a population of 116,000 people. Located within Rotorua Hospital, we provide secondary level specialties, with tertiary care available at Waikato Hospital.
  • Lakes is located in the central North Island of New Zealand - Aotearoa. Rotorua is located approximately 230 kilometers (143 miles) southeast of Auckland, while Taupō is located approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) south of Rotorua.
  • Lakes is a geothermal wonderland and is also home to several scenic lakes, including Lake Taupō, the largest lake in New Zealand. Rotorua and Taupō are the go-to places for hiking, mountain biking, and water sports; you can also dive into traditional experiences and learn more about Māori culture in the region.

About you

You will have:

  • MCNZ registration and or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at www.mcnz.org.nz
  • Completion of at least 2 years of clinical experience post graduation.
  • Applicants outside NZ and Australia must have previous anaesthetic training experience.
