About the Role
The Professional Leader – Podiatry will provide strategic leadership for the podiatry workforce across Te Toka Tumai, Waitematā, and Te Tai Tokerau Districts, including oversight of Auckland Metro Region Community Podiatrists. This senior role shapes the future of podiatry services by driving clinical excellence, workforce development, and sustainable, equitable care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Professional & Clinical Leadership: Inspire the workforce, maintain high standards, and integrate podiatry across healthcare teams.
- Quality & Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve outcomes, reduce inequities, and strengthen Māori-led services.
- Operational & Strategic Leadership: Contribute to planning, workforce sustainability, and professional development strategies.
- Research & Innovation: Promote clinical research and evidence-based practice.
- Equity & Te Tiriti o Waitangi: Champion culturally responsive services and equitable health outcomes.

About the Team/Service
At Health New Zealand, Te Whatu Ora, we are committed to delivering safe, equitable, and high-quality healthcare across our Northern Region. The Podiatry team plays a vital role in improving foot and lower limb health, particularly for those at high risk. Our focus extends across hospital, community, and primary care services, working closely with Māori, Pacific, and underserved populations to eliminate health inequities.

About you
Essential:
- Relevant graduate and post-graduate qualifications in podiatry
- Current registration and practising certificate as a podiatrist in New Zealand
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant clinical experience
- Current driver’s license
- Experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
- Strong knowledge of current podiatry standards and professional governance
Desirable:
- Membership of a relevant professional body in New Zealand
- Master’s or higher qualifications
- Leadership and clinical supervision/education qualifications
