About the Role
An exciting and challenging opportunity has opened to grow and extend your physiotherapy skills as part of our innovative ORBIT (One point of contact, Rapid response, Best practice for patient, Inter-disciplinary, Team) team, delivering allied health services within the Emergency Department (ED) and Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Hawke’s Bay Hospital. This is a dynamic role that moves beyond traditional ward - based physiotherapy.
You will be working at the front door of the hospital, supporting rapid assessment, early intervention, and safe discharge planning for a diverse and complex patient population. The role requires adaptability, clinical reasoning, and confidence in decision - making within a fast - paced acute environment.
As part of the ORBIT team, you will play a key role in providing timely, patient - centred allied health input in ED and AAU. You will work both autonomously and collaboratively alongside medical, nursing, and wider multidisciplinary teams, with a strong focus on improving patient flow and outcomes. About the Team/Service/ Location
You will be part of a diverse and supportive team working in partnership with patients, whānau, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, culturally safe, patient - centred therapy for our community. You will be part of the wider allied health and physiotherapy teams, developing leadership and service development skills in your role. You will have access to regular in - service training, special interest working groups, and learning opportunities to develop your clinical skills. Our Physiotherapy Professional Lead supports your growth and promotes the physiotherapy service throughout our hospital.

About you
We are looking for a Physiotherapist who:
- Has a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, or equivalent, with at least 4 years’ experience.
- Experience in a variety of different physiotherapy roles.
- Able to solve routine problems and initiate seeking assistance to solve complex issues as they arise.
- Working in a busy environment requiring robust organisation skills, time management and efficient communication skills.
- Is New Zealand registered with current annual practising certificate (APC)
- And is flexible, proactive, and eager to learn.
