About the Role
As a Safe Prescribing and Collaborative Education Pharmacist, you’ll be focused on leading safe prescribing practice and collaborative practice for medical students and junior doctors. The role involves designing and delivering our curriculum on prescribing, using pharmacist’s unique skills to support our medical colleagues navigate the complexities of prescribing and integrating medication safety into medical training. The position also includes leading education-related research, supporting quality improvement projects aligned with Waitematā’ s medication safety strategies, and promoting a culture of shared learning under the philosophy of ‘Ako’. The role serves as a role model in driving inter-professional and experiential learning in the clinical workplace.

About you
To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following qualifications and experience:
- Registration as a practicing Pharmacist in New Zealand with a current annual practicing certificate
- Working towards achieving/have a post graduate certificate in Clinical Education or Clinical Teaching
- A minimum of 5 years post registration experience as a Pharmacist
- Relevant coaching/teaching experience in a hospital setting (or similar environment), preferably with some medical teaching.
- Experience in quality improvement and project management
- Understanding of Medication Safety principles in Aotearoa
Additionally, you’ll be creative and resourceful, passionate about enhancing learning environments and improving patient outcomes.
