Operational Pharmacist – Inpatient Pharmacy Services, Waitematā

We have an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and enthusiastic operational pharmacist to join our dispensary and medicine distribution team at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals.

We provide a patient-focussed and technologically innovative pharmacy service and are expanding our team to accommodate the uplift in oncology treatment services.

About the role

We’re thrilled to offer an Operational Pharmacist opportunity within the Waitematā Inpatient Pharmacies, delivering high-quality care to patients across our district.

As an Operational Pharmacist, you’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative pharmacy team, delivering patient-focused care, contributing to service development and quality improvement. In playing a key role in expanding cancer and blood services, you’ll bring your technical expertise, a commitment to continuous learning, and a passion for equitable, evidence-based cancer care.

You will also undertake a range of operational duties, all supporting the efficient supply and procurement of medicines for our patients.

This is a full-time permanent position, working 40 hours per week spread over a Monday - Friday roster with occasional rostered Saturdays or Sundays and public holiday involvement at our North Shore Hospital site.

You will demonstrate the values of the Te Whatu Ora Waitematā Pharmacy team. We are the country’s leading hospital for innovation and the first to introduce electronic medication management systems. These include electronic Prescribing and Administration, Pyxis MedStations, eVitals and eNotes. About the Team

We are a large team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, with over 100 staff across several sites, who work together to provide a patient-centred and technologically-advanced pharmacy service.

About You

As an Operational Pharmacist supporting this service, you will have:

  • A current APC, and be a New Zealand registered pharmacist
  • Hospital pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential as we can provide training to the right person.
  • Attributes including being resourceful, organised, and a friendly team player
  • A positive attitude, keen and motivated for training and further learning
