About the Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced perfusionist to join our busy department. As the largest Hospital campus in Australasian and New Zealand’s leading trauma centre you will be offered the opportunity to use your experience and to further develop your skills. Being dynamic and highly motivated you would be joining a team committed to continuous learning and delivering an excellent standard of service for Cardiopulmonary Bypass.

The successful applicant will be expected to deliver a high standard of patient care and integrate completely with not only existing Perfusion team but also the wider theatre team.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Perform preoperative patient assessment
  • Perform CPB and perfusion related procedures
  • Provide patients with clear explanation of CPB and answer patient and whanau queries
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Contribute to perfusion develop projects
  • Contribute to the objectives the Cardiothoracic Service Plans

About the Team/Service

Te Whatu Ora, Waikato has two dedicated cardiac theatres with a multi-disciplinary Cardiac team that performs approximately 600 adult cardiac procedures annually and the Perfusion team provides a wide range of service to cover these procedures.

About you

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

  • Accrediation by one of the following Societies of Clinical Perfusionist Scientists:
    • ABCP – Australasian Board of Clinical Perfusion
    • CCPS GBI – College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists Great Britain and Ireland
    • EBCP – European Board of Clinical Perfusion
    • ABCP – American Board of Clinical Perfusion
  • You must be committed to teamwork, have good communication skills and a responsible, well-organised approach to work. You should be committed to professional development as both an individual and that of the group as a whole.
  • Cell Salvage, Intra-Aortic Balloon Counter pulsation and occasional Hybrid lab and ECMO provision. Experience in the latter is desirable but not essential, as training and necessary assistance is provided
