About the Role

We’re offering a permanent, night shift (23:30 – 07:30) part-time opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician to join our Specimen Registration team. This role plays a key part in supporting the laboratory’s operations. Once training is complete, you will be rostered to the night shift four nights a week, contributing to essential healthcare services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Receive, label and process specimens according to established protocols and quality standards.
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintain comprehensive records of patient and specimen information.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring proper handling, storage and documentation.
  • Manage time effectively to facilitate the prompt distribution of specimens to relevant departments.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients, clinicians and other healthcare professionals.

About the Team/Service

The Specimen Services Department plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by managing the collection, processing, and distribution of patient specimens for testing. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the department is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring specimens are handled accurately and promptly to support timely diagnosis and treatment.

 

About you

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow detailed instructions and established operating procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in data entry with accurate typing skills.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Prior laboratory experience is preferred.
