About the Role
We are looking for a Payroll Systems Assurance Specialist to provide expert oversight of configuration changes to our payroll systems, ensuring full compliance with the Holidays Act, tax obligations, and other legislative requirements.
In this role, you’ll ensure that robust testing, quality assurance, and documentation processes are followed whenever system updates occur. You’ll also provide advice and support to the Payroll and wider People & Culture teams on any process changes resulting from system updates.
This position is pivotal to maintaining payroll integrity and employee trust across our organisation.

About you
You will be an experienced payroll professional with strong technical expertise, a sharp eye for detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Confident navigating complex systems, you’ll ensure payroll configuration changes meet legislative and compliance requirements, maintain data accuracy, and follow robust system processes.
As a subject matter expert, you’ll lead testing and quality assurance, identify opportunities for automation and process improvement, support team capability building, liaise with vendors, and contribute to projects that strengthen payroll integrity and reduce risk.
Skills
- A relevant tertiary qualification (IT, Business, or similar)
- 5+ years’ experience in a large, complex payroll environment
- Sound knowledge of payroll legislation (Holidays Act 2003, Wages Protection Act, Parental Leave Act, Kiwisaver Act, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
- Experience with AMS Leader and/or UKG Workforce Dimensions (advantageous)
- Demonstrated ability to lead testing and quality assurance for payroll changes (advantageous)
